Here is a Prezi that I presented for the In House Institute for teachers during our PD. I blog with my students in grades 3-5.

Hey Nancy, this is a great Prezi. I love the way you’ve included so many authentic student samples in the presentation. I’ll be sharing the Prezi with my small group of pre-service teacher educators. Thanks for your fab work. I’m wondering how the In House Institute for teachers enjoyed it, (heaps I’m sure and I’m also sure that it would have stimulated a lot of discussion).
John,
Thanks for the comment. I am glad that my Pezi is useful. I think it is successful because of the student work. Our principal was in the presentation as well as 12 other teachers and she was amazed at what they kids are including. The students now have an outlet for their voice and some who were emailing the teachers their work have switched to daily blogging their stories, poems, and in one case songs he is singing into Audacity.
The INI was facilitated by our fabulous Litearcy Coordinator, Carrie Tennebrini, and had a Language Arts focus. The teachers who did not go to the EARCOS conference provide PD for their peers or attended the PD. They meet as a group in the morning for discussions and sharing of ideas and then did colleague class visits in their own grade, and the grades above or below them. The afternoon 4 choices of presentations were offered. The next day began with 4 different presentations, class visits, and discussions. Their feedback was all positive. The teachers had an additional day and a half to work on curriculum and WASC.
I used the Prezi as a focus point with great discussions. Several of the teachers are now using their blogs with students, some have stepped it up a notch to include different aspects and others are just starting one.

This was a great Prezi! Some of the captured photos were a little pixelated, but the content was fantastic and the student examples were especially good. One way to better help share this Prezi with other educators would be to create a supplement that gives a few more details rather than just the big idea such as “Collaborate!” If you do, please let me know because I’m discussing blogging with my own faculty in two weeks!
Grant,
Thanks for the comment. I know some of the images are pixelated but I did not have the originals and still wanted to show them as examples so they are simple screenshots. Prezi blows them up to fit the screen causing them to look even more pixelated. The presentation was live where I discussed each word with the group. I started with who has a blog? actually blogs? and why? Then showed some of the examples and ideas of why. We stopped and discussed several of the ideas. Then stopped again and asked what content can you add, continued, stopping as needed. It was a facilitated discussion. If I was going to use it as a standalone presentation I would definitely add more details so it is self-explanatory.
Good luck with your presentation.
Nancy
