In my tech reading this week I came across this article Mobile phone kits to diagnose STDs. I know there are new apps coming out all the time, but I would have never saw this one coming. Talk about an ingenious way to fight STDs. I bet it will be significant in reducing STDs.
I have been pushing the idea of a smart phone out of my mind for months now. But lately I have been warming up to the idea. I keep hearing stories of users who say that they can’t live without it now that they have it. A friend talked my brother into buying one to use for his small construction company. Now my brother says he can’t imagine being without it. For example, last week he was on a job site; in the morning the trusses arrived from the manufacturer and they had a design flaw. He took pictures, sent them within seconds to the manufacturer, and by the afternoon new trusses arrived on site. Without a smart phone, someone from the truss company would have had to come out take pictures and show them to the engineer before they could build new trusses. Or my brother would have had to take pictures and later that night when he got home send them off via email. Either way, the time would have delayed his company at least 30 hours. His smart phone pays for itself every day.
Yah! I’m still waiting for my iPhone 4 to arrive!:( But I use my iPod Touch all the time. My girls check the weather each morning to help them determine their clothes. I scan emails in short bursts when I’m away from my computer, and sometimes respond. I read the headlines for interest. I listen to the news at night to help me go to sleep… There are so many useful applications, in addition to the entertaining ones. All that I’m missing now is the camera function and the phone function!
