Alive in the Classroom: Applied Web 2.0 Technology for Learning
(SUNY: EDC 594 Emerging Technologies to Support Teaching and Learning)


The course will be about the classroom application, and reflection on the use of web 2.0 technology in the classroom. Participants will be asked to create a plan for the embedded use of technology to foster learning, share with the group and offer feedback on their cohorts’ embedded use of technology for learning. Did the use of technology lead to deeper learning?

Course Structure

This course is intended as a practical implementation of everything discussed in the first four courses. Each teacher will be paired with a course instructor as an advisor throughout the semester. Meetings will consist of:
  • 1 pre-conference to discuss observation lesson
  • 1 in-class observation (assessed using this rubric)
  • 1 post-conference to debrief from the observation

Assignments

Teachers will be required to complete 5 blog posts throughout the course of the semester as a reflection on the process of implementation. All posts are due on April 30th, 2010.
