GRASPS TaskSix Facets of Understanding
Goal: Students will be prepared for an authentic learning experience while on their field trip.

Role: The field trip preview video will help prepare the students for the field trip by providing information on what supplies they will need, what activities they will participate, and how they will use their newly acquired knowledge from the FOSS unit (ie.-plant and animal range of tollerance and optimum conditions, preferred enviromental conditions, ph levels in water).

Audience: Grade 5 students

Situation: Preview video for mangrove field trip to Bang Phu

Product Performance: Students will be bringing a learning/activity packet to the field trip location in which they will record their observations and learnings.

Extension: Students will be allowed and encouraged to document their field trip experience by using digital or flip cameras. They may then use their clips or videos to make digital story.
(Explain, Apply, Interpret, Perspective, Self-Knowledge, Empathize)

Explain: Students will be able to explain the components that contribute to ensuring that mangrove environment stays healthy

Apply: They will apply their knowledge through authentic obsevation and reflection

Perspective: Students will make observations through the perspective or scientists

Self-knowledge: Students will reflect on how their daily habits impact other environments

Empathize: Students will empathize will the plants and animals that live in an environment that is being encroached by urban development and pollution
