| Goal: Individually analyze one or two educational scenarios (provided by your facilitators) showing use of copyrighted material to determine fair use. Role: Share and discuss your responses with your group. Audience: Fellow MS teachers Situation: Decide if your group's scenario is Fair Use of the material. If not, modify the scenario(s) so that it is in line with Fair Use policy. Product Performance: Share and discuss your own scenario with any other peer from a different group. Extension: / | Explain: See GRASPS Task Product Performance Step. (Explain how your group decided that your modified scenario was consistent with Fair Use.) Apply: Describe an example of your intention to use copyrighted material consistent with fair use policy in the near future. Interpret: Perspective: See GRASPS Task Situation Step. (Consider group members' different viewpoints on fair use.) Self-Knowledge: Write a private reflection on any of your own improper use of copyrighted material. Empathize: Put yourself in your students' shoes and give reasons for violating fair use. |
| Lesson Notes: 1. Take and discuss online copyright quiz. 2. Presentation of What is Copyright (Emphasis: Closed vs. Open Networks, Use of Images, Music and Video.) 3. Then break into groups for projects. | |
