Unit: Appreciating Modern Chinese Poem in the form of Chinese Popular Song

Stage 2 – Assessment Evidence
GRASPS Task Six Facets of Understanding
Goal: To introduce a Modern Chinese poem each team so that the poem can be appreciated via students' proper interpretation

Role: Each student plays a role as a broadcaster based on the task given to contribute to the team work.

Audience: The whole class and online audiences afterwards;

Situation:
a) Taking turns to present the team work to the class as peer tutorial and take the criticism and questions from the class.
b) Editing the podcasting based on the suggestion of the classmates and finish the podcasting as final production of each team.

Product Performance: Podcasting a Modern Chinese poem as team work and upload the podcasting online as public learning resource supported in digital media tools.

Extension:
Explain: To demonstrate an example to the class as following:

1) An sample of Modern Chinese poem;
focusing points: the rhythm, sentence patterns, vocabulary and content of the modern Chinese poem;

2) A popular Chinese song with the lyrics drawn from the modern poem;

3) A podcasting embedding the song as background and my interpretation of this poem

Apply:
  • Use Audacity to produce a podcasting as summary of student conducted research;
  • Obtain the skill of broadcasting: show them how their voice looks like in Audacity (sound editing software);
  • Practise speaking clearly
  • Expalin them they are speaking directly to their audience, they are the voice in someone's ipod;
  • Show and explain the difference between boring, exciting and expressive speech
  • Demonstrate how individual audio segments can be joined to create a new whole
  • Be capable of making one's own modern Chinese poem.
  • Be able to appreciate Chinese literature works
