| GRASPS Task | Six Facets of Understanding |
| Goal: You will use the target language to research a social/health issue which impacts negatively teenagers' lives (ie. use of drugs, unhealthy diets, consumerism...) and create an informational/preventive presentation. Once it is ready it will be posted on your blog. Role: You are informing and offering possible solutions to other language learners/teenagers. You are also interacting with others after posting this in your blog. Audience: Modern language students, other teenagers, parents, teachers around the world. Situation: You may work individually or in pairs. Product Performance: You will use presentational language though the use of movie maker to inform the research you have made and offer solutions. You will comment and receive comments after posting it on your blog. Extension: You will post this on your blog and establish communication/interaction with others | (Explain, Apply, Interpret, Perspective, Self-Knowledge, Empathize) Explain: Students will use their acquired language skills to research and present issues and possible solutions which impact teenage lives. Apply: Students use movie maker to create the task (GRASPS) Interpret: Students make use of the target language to research, inform and offer solutions on a issue which impacts teenage life. They make efficient use of the technological tool (images, music, subtitles) to impact their audience. They will use the target language to comment and interact with others. | Lesson Notes: In order to make the connections necessary with the topics covered in the other classes; I am now reviewing the big themes covered in the humanities, health, and science classes. This will allow me to make a previous selection of what would fit my curriculum to then start looking for material with the appropriate language level for my students. | |
