Reading and understanding and focussing Copyright Usage and Plagiarism in Schools has been a trajectory in the equilibrium where Educators do need to emphasise to get in the barrels and discuss with our Learners as copy and paste has been found a simple solution to all the assignments  that are given. One of the achievements came through it was the Learning Outcomes that I wanted the Learners to achieve, that deep within came the urge and feeling to be more creative than ever and not to forget to learn to attribute or give Credit from the source or what is rightly pointed out To use and require the I-Forms in in WESLEY FRYER’S Blog.

Copyright, according to Dictionary.com, is “the legal right granted to an author, a composer, a playwright, a publisher, or a distributor to exclusive publication, production, sale, or distribution of a literary, musical, dramatic, or artistic work”. Going by the technicality what really Copyright  laws means  laws that are based on the belief that anyone who creates an original, tangible work deserves to be compensated for that work, that compensation encourages more creative works, and that society as a whole benefits from the creative efforts of its members. Copyright laws, therefore, are designed to protect a creator’s right to be compensated and to control how his or her work is used. Same way Plagiarism is defined in dictionaries as the “wrongful appropriation,” “close imitation,” or “purloining and publication” of another author’s language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions,” and the representation of them as one’s own original work.

I think it acted like an Ice-Breaker to the students.

Though we know Copyright laws are clearly adhered for the public and they are made aware of the consequences of infringements, people will be more cautious in getting involved in plagiarism. Acts of cheating like piracy of software, stealing music videos, copying literature should be avoided. As we know that costing and budgeting sometimes do become issues which we as Educators get succumbed to. But visualising the ground factor on the use of Fair Use Policy, it seems very true and relevant that in the technologically advanced digital world of today, where information is freely available, stringent copyright laws, applicable globally are required. Whether at School or Home or even discussing it with the Parents we definitely try and educate but sometimes I do get bounded to remain in our own territory.

Website on Teaching Copyright, Center of Social Media, Cyber bee, Education World  are few to name for the Educators to use and refer .Some way down the line when I came across 33 ways to be creative and Laws That choke Creativity, Reexamining the Remix Video  have some way down the line emphasises  and base connections  which is explained by the Wallas on the Creative process as one of the models which takes in account to  ”Unleashing the Right Side of the brain by a creative process.

Preparation –> Incubation –> Illumination –> Verification

• Preparation. The person expecting to gain new insights must know his field of study and be well prepared. This seems to fit what we have experienced 0 people get inventive ideas

I think we as Educators have to visualise the benefits of setting examples and treading in the path of understanding that we as a global citizen have to learn about Copyright Usage and Plagiarism in Schools.

As we have been learning a lot about the 21^st Century Learners and about Digital Natives more and more Schools and Institutions have started to engage in the tracks of understanding and corresponding to what actually DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP incorporates.   As we refer the word in Wikipedia it clearly defines of a digital citizen commonly referred as a person utilizing information technology information technology  in order to engage in society, politics, and government participation and the persons who use the Internet regularly and effectively. In qualifying as a digital citizen, a person generally must have extensive skills, knowledge, and access of using the internet through computers and mobiles, and web-ready devices to interact with private and public organizations.

There are great websites and resources available to understand the depth and knowledge of what it actually means and we as the Educators owe it to our community to go by it.

I while trying to endorse it with my learners not only in the Elementary but also with service learning project with ESL Adults. I find myself in the state that how much change is there in the thoughts and expressions and rationalities due to the difference in the age. I am not only glad that more and more knowledge and information can be passed to empower the present and future generations to come.

The executive report on enhancing child safety and online technology has been a productive understanding in its own way. I really enjoyed of building the compass with my learners. Same way the common sense media has helped in totality to establish well with our lessons, videos to show to the class.

One of the great site for the parents who really get concerned watching their children playing games is by Entertainment Software Rating World  which becomes quiet handy and useful.So let us walk together and spread the flame of DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP to the rest of the world.

I think that we are living in the world of MASKS and to wear it at the right time, having own private zone is an important task that can be followed if directed with caution  There is no doubt in our mind that living in the society there is  also a deep need of connecting with the people that  are Always Known to us with and also with the Lost Known and with Not Known especially if we have same professional background  when we come across the site RATE MY TEACHER  lies the fact that no rose is grown without the thorns but how nicely and carefully we clip the thorns to feel and touch and smell the rose is the art that we as Educators have to learn and teach the coming generation in the realm of our Digital profile.

As much as we know about the RUP that school follows to keep a track of it and to help the Learners to visualise a fact that there if you are on the Net than nothing is Private and to secure ourselves from any kind of infringement is to be taken in perspective.  I came across the YOU TUBE by friendly screens to help us connect with the Learners.

• Cyber security is to direct on how children can protect their computers and employ good computer “hygiene.” Much like they are taught to wash their hands to avoid disease, there is malware that can infect a child’s computer if he/she does not follow a handful of computer basics. Children need to learn what types of emails especially now that we have started to teach emailing to even a first grader to stress on safe to open mail and which are not safe to open.. In addition, they need to learn about programs and protections that protect their data, where it’s their music or all of their pictures from a recent family trip.
• Cyber safety: The need to understand the link between the online world and the “real” world. The Internet is not a game or a separate universe; it is real life. Cyber safety education focuses on teaching children how to protect themselves against cyber predators, stalkers, and bullies.
• Cyber ethics:  In which though has complex mechanism to understand for many young children, it education is really focused on treating others online as you would like to be treated. Much like you teach your students not to slander people with their tongues, cyber ethics education shows children that what is posted online can be even more damaging than hallway gossip. Cyber bullying and other inappropriate online behaviours leave a record for all to see and attract a much larger audience than a traditional person-to-person confrontation.

The article which I came across in scholastic site will surely be helpful for not only the Educators but also Parents to be kept in sync with our beliefs, thoughts and system so that we are in the secured zone in totality.

After going through the article This Creepy App ,I was not only astonished but I eventual thought that I should  ensure that the Revolvr map which I enjoyed adding to my site was  nothing more than to what it actually was .I guess I had undergone  some aftereffect of going through thought provoking article and App like it was mentioned. So we as whole have to educate and eradicate and open the gates to educate about the policies that can help us in protecting undercurrent waters in the field of PRIVACY ONLINE.

Reminiscing one of the workshops when we in a group were asked to make a footprint and asked how we would be like ourselves to be remembered and what footprint we would leave I had very simply written all the things like the Philanthropist would though they are still very close to my heart (example to be able to give back to the society etc..) and now with time especially after the joining the COETAIL my horizon and understanding with the technology and the undercurrent that we are facing has undergone a facelift in the terms of ensuring all corners are kept intact then only reaching to a final printing.

 Ever since as a child I loved adding images pictures, in any assignments given to me and I guess that habit is still instilled in me that I remember in one of the courses that I had undertaken on REFLECTIVE teacher from SUNY SHERRY DOTSON a great inspirer even commented to me that symbols and images are important to me.

Starting to Blog and embedding the videos and coming out with an animation video on small moments in YouTube gave me sense of achievement. Though I was at my own end in the normal way citing Resources referred to but now with the COURSE 2 I have started being more cautious and definitely adding CREATIVE COMMONS License in my Blog.

As a part and process of being an Educator lays a deep responsibility of helping not only Learners but also the people that we are connected with in and around our world especially when we did read and come across touching stories of rest of my COETAILERS.

Our Digital Footprints are important in the coming times especially with the upsurge of social networking.

I remember when I first made the Facebook account I was thrilled that now I could stay connected with my school pals but I definitely was warned by my soul mate of being in Public and that takes me to understand that day by day my vocabulary in the DIGITAL WORLD is expanding. I came across a site in Google which talked about Digital Dictionary for leaders mentioned by David Murray

So  I am definitely going to update myself and also  careful with my Digital footprints.Though when I was  engrossed in learning creating my own images as you see at the top of my post with clipping and using Adobe Photoshop and other tools though I still took the Logos from the main server which apparently I have started to look forward to and cautious too especially going through with Would you hire you and with each and every step and path we take we need to enjoy the net and at same time cautious too.
